Can You Stand The Rain New Edition Cover by Drey Skonie
Get ready to get “Skonie High”! Drey Skonie is on a “Mission As a Rising Star” and he wants you to fly with him. The Detroit native has been getting it in since the age of 6 and the hard work and dedication has paid off. Some people may remember Skonie from his participation in the first season of MTV’s “Making the Band 4”. As part of the cast Skonie, then known as “Dre” fell short of becoming part of the group that eventually became “Day 26” but still to this day Drey’s exit from the show is remembered favorably by the inspirational leadership he showed, which lead to the emotional cast singing of the Boyz to Men classic hit “End of the Road” once news came about of his elimination. Drey’s mission isn’t complete and he’s still rising, take a listen for yourself and vibe to the sound from this eventual star.
Drey Skonie is not just your everyday singer / songwriter. This artist has also established his brand by adding drummer, guitarist, pianist, dancer to his portfolio. This modern day “Prince” has a unique style and sound very similar to “Ryan Leslie” with versatile vocals that can be evidently heard on his latest mixtape “M.A.R.S.” The array of his ability can be heard all throughout this mixtape especially on the ballet “When Im Gone”, the fast paced song “I see Ya”, the creative take on “Temptation” featuring Wiz Khalifa, and his artistic version of “How to Love”.
