Coffee, so simple yet more than just a drink. In ancient times coffee was banned due to religious beliefs in Yemen and Ethiopia, which both account for coffees first known “coffee-drinking” appearances. In this day and age coffee thrives and has evolved into so much more than just a drink. Coffee has evolved from just a bean to a culture. The Coffee culture even has a trade show called Coffee Fest in which people from all walks of life come together for the love of coffee. Coffee is a great social tool and people love coffee as much as they love their family & friends; this is evident as there is an abundance of coffee cafe’s and trade shows all around the world.
Although Coffee Fest is a trade show its much more like a festival, where as, those who love making it and those who love drinking it come together. CEO of Coffee Fest David Heilbrunn recently spoke to Barista Magazine and said: “Lifelong friendships have been forged and the circle just keeps growing larger. My business associates become my friends. We get to see each other in most cases three or four times every year. We believe as a result we receive more hugs per capita than any other trade show in any industry.” This weekends Coffee Fest events at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center consist of educational training – coffee classes & skill building, contests – latte art & best espresso and informational booths from the worlds leaders in coffee products. Surprisingly enough Coffee is much more of a big deal than a lot of people think, its a culture and a science; its not about making a good cup of coffee, its about making a great cup!
