Vogue Magazine names Kim Kardashian and Kanye West #WorldsMostTalkedAboutCouple
Vogue Magazine once known as a super elite publication has been catering to a young and more approachable demographic in recent years. Although, published in 23 national and regional editions, Vogue like many other publications still depends on controversy to sell. Since the popularity increase of online-publications and blogs; Vogue has released many controversial covers teetering on arguable topics of race, age and sex. Up until now, one of its most outrageous issues was of NBA Superstar Lebron James appearing to be a brute. James growled like a menacing guerrilla while holding Supermodel Giselle Bundchen in his arm. Apparently, the King Kong cover has been upstaged; fast forward to April 2014 everyone is chattering about the April 2014 cover which bares Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Kim Kardashian is arguably one of the most intriguing people of this generation. From her family ties to her infamous sex tape and fashionable business moves, Kim has kept the attention of the masses. Likewise, Kanye West gives us controversy with doses of erratic behavior, rants and contested quotes. This past October the “I am a God” rapper went on a media blitz, giving many memorable quotes… Adding to his list of tourette syndrome-like escapades. During what most thought to be typical Kanye West, while interviewing On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Yeezus went on a tirade about the fashion industry not accepting him because he is black and was quoted saying “Nobody is looking at what Obama is wearing… Michelle Obama can’t instagram a pic like what my girl instagrammed the other day Kim…” He also spoke of editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue Franca Sozzani attending events with himself and Kim in Vegas.
The internet is whirling with both hate and love over the Vogue 2014 issue. Supermodel Naomi Campbell who has graced the cover of Vogue appeared on Australia’s The Morning Show and was asked what she thought of the cover, but from the animated looks on her face and her response it doesn’t seem that she is impressed. Another unimpressed celebrity is Sarah Michelle Gellar who has graced many magazines, but never Vogue. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are exactly what Vogue editor-in-chief wanted to sell issues: young, approachable and popular in this internet age. I can’t help but feel like all the hate at the Kimye @voguemagazine cover is a little racist and a lot classist. #KimyeOnVogue
